Daddy G to headline Boreal Festival in Los Silos this September

Massive Attack co-founder to headline Boreal Festival

Daddy G, the co-founder of legendary trip-hop group Massive Attack, will perform in Los Silos on 19 September as part of the latest edition of the Boreal Festival. The organisers have now released the full day-by-day line-up and put individual day tickets on sale for both 18 and 19 September.

The Bristol-born musician will showcase his masterful command of dub and trip-hop through a fundamental DJ set. Following the release of general passes, festival-goers can now purchase day tickets via Tickety and the festival’s official website. This option allows attendees to tailor their experience within a programme of twenty international and local acts, characterised by stylistic diversity and artistic rigour.

Friday night: global beats and raw energy

The Friday 18 September programme will be headlined by the physical energy of South African group BCUC, Jamaican roots sounds from Hempress Sativa alongside Paolo Baldini Dub Files, the urgency of The Neighborhood Kids, and incisive hip-hop from El Veneno Crew. The opening day’s line-up is completed by the blend of Arabic tradition and electronic music from Aïta Mon Amour, Quechua-language laments from Renata Flores, the pop sophistication of Chilean artist Rubio, a set from The Queen of Bass, the freshness of Pleito, and the debut of project Jable, formed by Jela and Cristina Mahelo.

Saturday: Colombian rock legends and desert sounds

The second day, Saturday 19 September, will feature not only Daddy G but also the historic weight of Colombian rock from Aterciopelados, the desert sound of Algerian group Imarhan, the Afro-Lusophone trance of Throes + The Shine, and the vocal delicacy of Fuensanta. The line-up also includes Brazilian virtuosity from Josyara, the tropical fire of Candeleros, the irreverence of La Terrorista del Sabor, and the electronic perspective of Canary Islands artist Xerach.

More than music: a festival rooted in its landscape

The identity of the Boreal Festival has been intrinsically linked to the landscape of Los Silos since its origins. In 2008, the skeleton of a sei whale was installed on the municipality’s coastline – a fifteen-metre natural sculpture recovered after being found in Gran Canaria to raise awareness about ocean protection. The festival inherited not only its name from that cetacean but also a clear philosophy: understanding culture in harmony with the environment. Nearly two decades later, the Boreal Festival continues to inhabit its territory with respect, equality and community coexistence.

Alongside the musical programme, the urban and pedestrian fabric of Los Silos will host a catalogue of socio-cultural activities that form the backbone of the festival’s essence: exhibitions, workshops, professional meetings, family-friendly offerings, eco-markets, and direct environmental awareness actions.

Award and community spirit

This nineteenth edition arrives bolstered by the announcement of its annual award, with writer Andrea Abreu receiving the Boreal Prize 2026 for her commitment to the territory, rural life and defence of peripheral culture. This recognition chimes fully with the spirit of an event that, year after year, turns artistic creation into a tool for social and environmental transformation.
