Motorcyclist clocked at 102 km/h in 30 km/h zone
The radar unit of Santa Cruz de Tenerife’s Local Police traffic accident investigation team has detected a 24-year-old motorcyclist travelling at 102 kilometres per hour along Pedro Suárez Hernández street in the capital city. According to information released by the Local Police this Thursday, officers have initiated legal proceedings for a possible offence against road safety due to the excessive speed at which the rider was travelling on a road limited to 30 kilometres per hour.
Offence captured by police speed camera
The alleged offence took place in the afternoon during the first week of July and was captured by the police speed camera. The Local Police have explained that the police radar is deployed on a series of roads selected in advance based on road safety criteria, pedestrian and school traffic, or the number of previously detected infractions. In addition to these checkpoints, service instructions are usually added taking into account requests from members of the public, district authorities, or other institutions, the statement concluded.
