Santa Brígida prepares for the sixth Atalaya Blues Festival
Santa Brígida is preparing to host the sixth edition of the Atalaya Blues Festival 2026, an event now firmly established in Gran Canaria’s cultural and musical calendar, which will bring together five acts linked to blues and its various offshoots on Saturday 26 September. For the first time, the festival will move to the Municipal Park in the town centre, where it will offer a day of live music with free entry.
Music from early afternoon until late evening
The performances will begin at 2pm and run until around 10.30pm, although the musical activity will get under way at 1pm with a selection of DJ’d Rhythm n Blues that will accompany the whole day. The venue will also host two food and drink options: Imaginario Drinks Music, by Andrés Barbero, and La Carboneta, by Danilo González, a food truck specialising in grilled meats.
The line-up, act by act
The bill opens at 2pm with Taio Boumort, a Catalan musician whose proposal ventures into North American folk territory. His repertoire combines original songs with a format in which guitar and voice take particular prominence.
At 3.30pm it will be the turn of The Blue Moon Cats, a duo made up of the Italian Claudio Klaus and the Tenerife-born Héctor Quintero. Their repertoire revives classics from the music of the 1950s and combines them with their own compositions, in a proposal defined by the sounds of that era.
At 5.30pm it will be the turn of The Cavaliers, a Gran Canaria band featuring guitar, piano, sax and drums, who will bring their Jump Blues and Rhythm n Blues sounds to the stage.
The programme continues at 7.30pm with the Jonás Molina Band, performing as a trio. The Madrid-born singer and guitarist, one of the most outstanding guitarists of recent years in Spain and Europe, will be accompanied by his regular band from Granada, with whom he recorded his latest album: Pool Darts (2025). His proposal ranges across different strands of blues, from Jump Blues and West Coast Blues to Swing and Boogie Woogie.
The festival’s closing act, at 9.30pm, will be led by Sweet Marta and Johnny BigStone, two figures with extensive international careers. Marta on harmonica and Johnny on guitar will run through the different sounds of electric blues from Chicago and Texas in particular. They will play in an electric quartet format, accompanied by the Canarian musicians Reinaldo Rivero on bass and Alberto Gulias on drums.

The sixth edition of the festival is organised by Real Live Music, with funding from Santa Brígida Town Council and the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, and the collaboration of the Sociedad Blues Canarias, Musical Las Palmas and various local organisations.
