Canary Islands towns in the running for a dazzling Christmas
Christmas is just around the corner and Ferrero Rocher, for another year, wants a Spanish town to shine like never before. In this new edition of its ‘Juntos brillamos más’ initiative, which last year was won by the Gran Canaria town of Tejeda, two new Canary Islands towns are taking part, including one in Tenerife. Through this scheme, the company brings the magic of Christmas to a town thanks to spectacular lighting.
Buenavista del Norte, in Tenerife, and Villa de Mazo, in La Palma, are taking part in a special edition that comes with several new features, including being the edition with the most towns participating and the first in which the public can choose which towns get the contest under way representing each region.
A tribute to Spain’s unique corners
Franco Martino, director of Communication and Institutional Relations at Ferrero Ibérica, explained in statements reported by Europa Press that “at Ferrero Rocher we are convinced that the true value of our country lies in the authenticity and uniqueness of each of its territories. With this golden edition we wanted to pay an unprecedented tribute and involve many more corners of Spain in the Christmas excitement.”
On the Tenerife entry, Buenavista del Norte, Ferrero highlights that it is a town situated between the Teno massif and the Atlantic, with a “volcanic landscape of enormous beauty and a spectacular coastline”. Its traditional architecture and its proximity to protected natural areas reinforce its rural character, which is also a major attraction.
Villa de Mazo, for its part, is known for its “volcanic landscapes, crops and traditional architecture”. Ferrero also points out that “its fiestas, its agriculture, its crafts and, especially, the tradition of the floral Corpus Christi celebrations constitute one of its most distinctive cultural hallmarks”.
How to vote and key dates
The public will be able to choose the final representative for the Canary Islands from these two options. It should be noted that voters can only back one town in each phase, the votes are cumulative and, in the end, the town with the most votes will win. In this first phase, voting runs for two weeks, closing on Sunday 8 November at 23:59. Anyone wishing to vote for one of the participating towns can do so at this link: www.ferrerorocher.com/es/es.
The winner of the contest will be announced on 14 December. Before then, however, the towns must get through four phases, which begin this Monday:
Phase 1 (34 towns), 26 October
Phase 2 (17 towns), 9 November
Phase 3 (5 towns), 30 November
Phase 4 (2 towns), 7 December
Prizes for the winning town and for the public
As well as the Christmas lighting, the winning town will receive the title of ‘Pueblo ganador Ferrero Rocher 2026’ (Ferrero Rocher 2026 Winning Town). But the public also has a chance to win. Specifically, between 26 October and 31 December, consumers of the brand can enter a prize draw for 100 pyramids of Ferrero Rocher containing 96 pieces and 400 exclusive sets of glasses decorated with 18k gold, using the receipt from their purchase of its products.
