Council launches nightlife inspection drive
Arona Council, through its Activities department within the Urban Planning division, has launched a comprehensive inspection plan targeting nightlife venues in Playa de Las Américas. The operation, carried out last night from 10pm, mobilised municipal technicians and inspectors accompanied by Arona Local Police officers to prevent potential altercations and ensure safety during the checks.

The municipal intervention comes as a direct response to the numerous complaints lodged by residents of surrounding areas, who are tired of the noise, late-night disturbances and lack of sleep resulting from the irregular operation of certain establishments. During the initial technical visits, municipal staff focused on verifying whether the activities carried out by the venues — particularly those offering music during evening and night-time hours — strictly match the licence or operating permit granted.

Council responds to criticism
Fátima Lemes, Mayor of Arona, said: “Playa de Las Américas is a fundamental economic area, but activity must take place with respect for regulations and residents’ rest. We are not against nightlife; we are in favour of guaranteeing coexistence and legal certainty for those who do comply.”
Javier Baute, Councillor for Urban Planning, added: “We aim to respond to residents’ demands regarding noise. The checks have been met with a very collaborative attitude from business owners, and we will continue carrying them out systematically.”
