Hotel fire in Adeje forces evacuation of 700 guests
Two people have been affected to varying degrees by a fire at a hotel on Avenida de España in the Tenerife municipality of Adeje. According to the 112 emergency services, the incident occurred shortly after 8pm on Monday after a fire broke out on the second basement floor of the hotel, which had to be evacuated.
Firefighters confirmed that a total of 700 people were evacuated as a precaution by Adeje’s Local Police. Upon arrival at the scene, medical staff assessed and treated four people, including a 43-year-old man who, at the initial point of care, showed symptoms of moderate smoke inhalation. He was taken by a fully equipped ambulance to Hospital Universitario Hospiten Sur.

The other casualty who also required transfer to the same medical centre was a 46-year-old man who, at the initial point of care, was displaying symptoms of smoke inhalation and minor injuries. Two further people were assessed and treated on site by the medical personnel deployed, without needing to be taken to hospital.
A statement from the firefighters reported that the blaze produced a dense cloud of smoke.
