Sunday: steady trade winds and cloudy north coasts

Sunday: trade winds return, clouds on northern coasts

Stable weather is back across the Canary Islands this Sunday, with the return of the trade winds after a brief break. Northern coasts will see more cloud cover, especially early and late in the day, while the rest of the archipelago enjoys mostly clear or partly cloudy skies.

General conditions

Temperatures will hold steady along the coasts but drop slightly inland, particularly on La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria. A moderate trade wind will blow across the islands, with stronger gusts on exposed northwestern and southeastern slopes. Locally very strong gusts are possible in the southeast and west of Gran Canaria and La Gomera. On the peaks, winds will be light and variable, except on Tenerife’s high summits, where a moderate southwesterly flow will persist.

The Atlantic will remain calm for the most part. The biggest waves—around 1 metre—will hit northern shores. By late evening, the west coasts of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote could see waves exceeding 1.5 metres. Southern, sheltered coasts will experience slight ripples on the water.
