Stable weather arrives for the long weekend
The Canary Islands are enjoying a stable spell of weather this Friday, with skies clearing up more than initially forecast. Cloud cover will be limited to high and medium-level clouds during the early morning, and some local afternoon clouds in the midlands, but no rainfall is expected. Temperatures are rising slightly, nothing significant. Winds are variable across the western islands and light from the northeast on the eastern ones.
Ocean conditions
The Atlantic is calm overall. The southern coasts are slightly choppy, while northern areas are a bit rougher, though waves won’t exceed one metre in height by Sunday. A light trade wind breeze will develop over the weekend.
Island-by-island forecast
Tenerife
Remnants of high and medium cloud at dawn will clear quickly. By mid-morning, local afternoon clouds will develop on both the northern and southern sides. It will feel warmer than recent days.
Gran Canaria
High cloud in the morning will disappear, with some cloud clusters forming in the west. The afternoon will be clear. Temperatures range from 17°C to 22°C.
Lanzarote
A grey start to the day, but skies will clear after 3pm, with sunshine breaking through in most areas. Wind is barely noticeable. Temperatures between 16°C and 22°C.
Fuerteventura
Light trade winds will set in. Medium and high cloud will reduce during the afternoon, leaving clear skies. Temperatures will be slightly higher than previous days.
La Palma
High cloud at dawn, with clouds building in the interior by midday. Temperatures remain steady, between 15°C and 22°C. Saturday might bring some weak, intermittent showers.
La Gomera
Local afternoon clouds will develop in the midlands and interior from midday onwards, but no rain. Calm winds. Temperatures range from 16°C to 23°C.
El Hierro
Medium and high cloud at dawn will tend to clear. Low cloud will form inland, but without rain. Temperatures between 10°C and 16°C.
La Graciosa
Medium and high cloud will disappear by afternoon, leaving clear skies. Temperatures remain steady, the Atlantic is calm, and winds are light.
