Lola Herrera’s Farewell Performance Sells Out
The return of Lola Herrera to the stages of Tenerife has received an immediate public response, with a complete sell-out for the actress’s performance on 20 June in Puerto de la Cruz as part of the Veranos del Taoro festival. Herrera arrives in Puerto de la Cruz with ‘Camino a la Meca’, a play which takes on a unique character as part of her farewell tour from the stage. The anticipation of seeing the performer in what could be her final appearance on the island has led to the venue selling out in record time.
A Stellar International and National Line-Up
The fifth edition of Veranos del Taoro presents a programme combining international names and established figures from the national scene. Within this framework, the presence of Broadway star Patti LuPone, who will perform on 19 June at 22:00, stands out. Under the title ‘Songs from a Hat’, the winner of three Tony Awards, two Grammy Awards, and two Olivier Awards takes a journey through the key moments of her career in an intimate format, where the repertoire is selected randomly through direct audience participation.
Comedy, Feminism and Pop Homage
The programme is completed by Anabel Alonso in ‘La mujer rota’, an adaptation of the celebrated text by Simone de Beauvoir. Through a narrative that moves between tragedy and comedy, the play explores the emotional collapse of a woman marked by isolation and the loss of identity in her roles as wife, mother, and daughter. This performance will be on 18 June at 22:00.
Meanwhile, journalists Mariola Cubells and María Guerra present the show ‘Señoras y Señoras’ on 19 June at 20:00. This piece, created by both women, celebrates women born in the 1960s through a “feminist pop show” that combines humour, social analysis, and themes from their book ‘Mejor que nunca’.
Furthermore, the bill includes the comedy ‘En Estado de Show’, a solo show of a falsely autobiographical nature starring Yanely Hernández. Through a documentary format with a live soundtrack, the actress immerses herself in a story where fiction serves to unravel realities of her own life and guarded secrets. It will be on 18 June at 20:00.
Finally, the programming adds Melissa T’s show, entitled ‘Madona a la carta’. In this proposal, the artist pays a particular tribute to the queen of pop, allowing the audience to interact with the repertoire and the staging. This show will take place on 20 June at 20:00.
A Multidisciplinary Festival Experience
The daily programme is enriched with contemporary dance, a carefully curated gastronomic area, and a craft market featuring local brands, consolidating Veranos del Taoro as a multidisciplinary experience that transcends the conventional stage. The festival has the institutional sponsorship of the Government of the Canary Islands —through Turismo de Islas Canarias—, the Tenerife Council, through Turismo de Tenerife, and the Puerto de la Cruz Town Council, as well as private sponsorship from the Gran Hotel Taoro as a strategic ally, Binter, Coca-Cola, Heineken, and Crea SGR, together with the collaboration of other organisations and entities that reinforce its cultural projection and its impact on the community and the artistic sector.
