Known to Locals as “El Bar de Ignacio”

Situated on Plaza de San Pedro, the venue is known to many residents as “el bar de Ignacio,” a reference to one of its historic proprietors. They explain, “He’s a bit poorly now but is always around; Mary is at the helm these days and they continue to fill the bellies of the people of Güímar.” One thing that immediately caught the creators’ attention was both the size and the generous fillings of the snacks, showcasing the slices of pork loin overflowing from the croissant that Jonay tried. “This place has been famous for years for the size of its sandwiches; here a half sandwich is the size of a whole one anywhere else,” they assure viewers.

Enormous Fillings and Remarkable Value

Among the options sampled were the chicken sandwich, the Spanish omelette sandwich, and the pork loin croissant, which contained huge portions of meat—three helpings, in fact. “This place has a reputation for enormous servings,” they note. Another highly praised aspect is the competitive pricing, which is considered low given the portion sizes. During their visit, the creators paid a total of €25.50. Both the sandwiches and the croissant were priced at just €4.50 each, a very reasonable sum considering their size and filling.

Alongside its famous bocadillos, the establishment also offers natural juices, such as strawberry with banana or orange with papaya. “Everything here is XL,” they joke. The café’s opening hours are from Wednesday to Friday, 8:00 to 13:30 and 16:00 to 22:00. On Saturdays and Sundays, hours are slightly reduced, from 9:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 22:00. The café is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays for staff rest.
