Two Tenerife beaches reopen after water quality scare
The beaches of El Médano, in Granadilla de Abona, and El Socorro, in Los Realejos, reopened for swimming this Friday after being temporarily closed due to poor water quality. Both councils announced the reopenings through their official profiles, following fresh tests to check the state of the water and guarantee the safety of bathers.
El Médano given the all-clear
In the case of El Médano, Granadilla de Abona Council reported that the counter-analysis carried out confirms the water is suitable for swimming. The results place enterococcus levels below the permitted limits. The beach was temporarily closed on Wednesday as a preventive measure while the results of samples taken that same day were awaited. Once the good quality of the water was confirmed, the council proceeded to reopen El Médano beach for swimming.
El Socorro also back to normal
For its part, Los Realejos Council also announced the reopening of El Socorro beach, after the relevant analyses confirmed that the water conditions are once again suitable for swimming. In this way, both Tenerife beaches have returned to normal following the preventive closures ordered this week as a result of initial findings relating to water quality.
