The Spanish government has approved the Decreto Canarias, a package of urgent measures to complete La Palma’s recovery five years after the Tajogaite volcanic eruption. It includes a 60% income tax break for island residents and €100 million for reconstruction. The decree also unlocks €600 million in budget surplus for the Canary Islands to spend on priority areas like health and education.
