Strategic La Palma project enters decisive final phase
The Island Council of La Palma is entering the decisive phase of work on the Business Incubator and the six-home residential building in Tijarafe. Confirming that the project, financed with FDCAN funds and an investment of over five million euros, is in its final stage, the development means the homes will become a tangible reality within the coming months.
Urgent housing a top priority for the island
During a site visit accompanied by the Mayor of Tijarafe, Yaiza Cáceres, and the First Deputy Mayor, Samuel Pérez, the President of the Island Council, Sergio Rodríguez, stressed that this building is not merely administrative infrastructure but an urgent housing solution. “Our absolute priority is to add homes to the island’s housing stock immediately,” stated Rodríguez. “We are working intensely so that very soon these six homes will be available, fulfilling our commitment to stabilise the population in the region and address one of the most critical demands of Palmeros.”
Boosting the local economy and employment
The President also emphasised that launching this building in the coming months will help diversify the local economy and reduce unemployment through the creation of direct and indirect jobs. The modern, stepped six-storey building has been constructed on the shell of a previously unfinished structure. It comprises six new homes distributed across the second and third floors, which will be ready for tenants following the final touches in the next few months.
Modern facilities for business and community
In addition to the housing, the development features six modular commercial units on the ground floor and three additional offices, as well as a bar-cafeteria, 26 underground parking spaces, and the public square ‘Espacio de Arte’. With the completion of this strategic project, the La Palma Island Council and Tijarafe Town Council are strengthening their alliance to provide housing and professional solutions for the island’s northwest, ensuring local talent and families have a place to grow and develop.
