Calima and Heat Begin to Recede
The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts that the calima and heatwave will begin to subside across the Canary Islands during this Monday, although high values will still be recorded in several areas of the archipelago. In some parts of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria, temperatures could still reach 30°C locally, particularly in inland areas and southeastern slopes. Maximum temperatures are expected to fall generally, with clearer drops in exposed western sectors and mid-altitude regions. In the capital cities, highs of 22°C are expected in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 21°C in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Minimum temperatures will remain mild, leading to warm and even tropical nights in some coastal municipalities. The wind will blow from a westerly direction, ranging from light to moderate, with strong intervals in exposed areas and very intense gusts on mountain peaks. At sea, the swell will continue with a northwesterly groundswell. Although the episode is losing strength, the atmosphere will remain warm for the time of year at least until Tuesday in several parts of the archipelago.
