A Vueling aircraft has managed to touch down this Tuesday morning, 27 October, with problems in its landing gear at Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna airport, known as Los Rodeos. According to Aena, the aircraft, which had flown in from Barcelona, was able to land on the runway and the passengers are in good condition.
Steering locked after landing gear deployed
Once the landing gear had been deployed, the crew noticed that a system fault had left the steering locked, which complicated the landing manoeuvre – particularly bearing in mind that Los Rodeos’ runways are not exactly large. Even so, the plane managed to land without any problems for either the passengers or the Tenerife airport, which according to Aena continued to operate normally.
Only delay of the morning
In fact, the only delay recorded during the morning involved this very flight, VLG3030, which departed from El Prat at around seven in the morning. Some 15 minutes later than scheduled, at around ten o’clock, it reached the end of the runway, where passengers were disembarked before the aircraft was subsequently towed away from the area.
Passengers told little in the cabin
According to some of the passengers, once they had collected their luggage and passed through to the arrivals terminal, the seriousness of the incident was not made clear in the cabin, although the delay was announced. “They said very little, but in the end we got off without any problem,” confirmed one of the passengers who arrived from Barcelona.
Bomb threat at Gran Canaria the day before
It so happens that yesterday, Monday afternoon, a flight operated by the same airline and also arriving from Barcelona caused a significant scare at Gran Canaria airport. On that occasion, a bomb threat on board the aircraft led to the full security operation being deployed on the runway at Gando.
