New bus routes for Adeje

Adeje Town Hall and TITSA, the island’s transport operator, will launch two new urban bus routes on Monday 17 August. The 448 and 449 services will expand public transport connections within the municipality and provide new alternatives to travelling by car.

Route 448 to La Caleta

The 448 will link Adeje town centre with La Caleta, an area of significant tourist and commercial activity. The service is designed to make daily journeys easier for workers, residents and visitors alike, while improving access by public transport to one of Adeje’s main employment hubs.

Route 449 for the midlands

Meanwhile, the 449 will boost mobility in the midland areas of the municipality, connecting Taucho, Tijoco Alto, La Concepción, La Hoya, Tijoco Bajo and Los Menores with Adeje town centre. The new route will make it far easier for local people to reach services, shops, administrative offices, appointments and other everyday activities. This improvement is particularly significant for older residents and those without access to their own vehicle.

Monitoring demand

The launch of both services represents a step forward for internal mobility in a municipality that is geographically extensive and has widely dispersed population centres. The Town Hall and TITSA will monitor how the lines are used in order to assess any adjustments that may be needed based on real demand. Timetables, routes and stops will be available through the official public transport channels.

Mayor José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga said: “These two lines respond to a demand that Adeje’s residents have been making for a long time,” and highlighted that they will make getting around easier while helping to reduce traffic pressure. The Councillor for Mobility, Mercedes Vargas Delgado, explained: “We have been working on the planning and administrative procedures needed to incorporate these services into the public transport network,” and added that usage will be analysed to explore further improvements.
