Double gold for Canarian brewers

Two beers brewed in the Canary Islands have been recognised as the best in Spain in their respective categories. Dorada Sin Gluten and Tropical Con Limón have been awarded gold medals and named national winners at the World Beer Awards 2026.

Compañía Cervecera de Canarias has secured a total of seven honours in the latest edition of the competition: five medals and two national winner titles. In addition to the golds awarded to Dorada Sin Gluten and Tropical Con Limón, Dorada Sin Limón and Tropical 1924 each received silver medals, while Dorada Especial Negra was distinguished with bronze.

Rigorous judging process

The World Beer Awards recognise beers from different countries, styles and categories every year. The participating drinks undergo an evaluation process in which industry specialists assess aspects relating to aroma, flavour, appearance and quality of production.

Gold for gluten-free Dorada

Dorada Sin Gluten has been recognised with gold and named the best gluten-free beer in Spain within its category. This variety retains the alcohol content and profile of the original Dorada Pilsen, but is brewed to be suitable for people with coeliac disease.

Tropical Con Limón takes top spot

The second national winner is Tropical Con Limón, a low-alcohol beer that combines the flavour of the Gran Canaria brand with lemon juice. The jury has distinguished it with a gold medal and named it the best Spanish beer in its category.

Silver and bronze successes

Dorada Sin Limón, meanwhile, has secured a silver medal. This drink is made from alcohol-free Dorada beer with lemon juice, characterised by a balance between sweetness and citrus flavour. Tropical 1924 has also received silver: a helles bock-style beer brewed with caramel malt and floral hops. This variety has a fuller body, an alcohol content of 6.4% and a profile inspired by German beers.

The list is completed by Dorada Especial Negra, awarded bronze. Its production combines different malts and hops to achieve a smooth dark beer with a balance between sweetness and bitterness.

Praise from the CEO

The chief executive of CompaƱƭa Cervecera de Canarias, Roberto MartĆnez de Bustos, believes these distinctions highlight the quality of beers brewed in the islands and help position Canarian products on the international beer scene. “These awards are no longer a one-off achievement for a single year,” says MartĆnez de Bustos, who attributes the results to the work of the master brewers and the selection of raw materials.

The Dorada Especial family has now accumulated 17 medals at the World Beer Awards over the past six years. In total, CompaƱƭa Cervecera de Canarias has amassed 27 medals and distinctions in this competition since its first entry in 2020, in addition to more than 30 international recognitions in recent years.
