Monday: trade winds and clouds in the north

Monday starts the week with the classic trade wind setup across the Canary Islands. Cloudy skies dominate the northern coasts, while the south and central areas enjoy plenty of sunshine. Don’t expect any major rain – just the occasional light drizzle over higher terrain on the more mountainous islands.

Temperatures remain typical for the season. Maximums will climb slightly inland on La Gomera and more noticeably on Tenerife’s peaks, but overall it’s a stable, comfortable day. Minimums stay steady, with cool mornings in the north.

The trade wind blows moderate to strong across the southeast and northwest slopes of the mountainous islands, where locally very strong gusts are possible. On the ocean, expect a mixed north-northeast swell on coasts open to the north, the west coasts of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and between the islands. Waves could top two metres, while the more sheltered southern shores see calmer conditions.
