Saturday: Strong winds persist but skies clear up

After a few days of cloud and blustery conditions, Saturday brings a welcome shift. The skies are clearing up across the archipelago, with only a few low clouds lingering in the north during the early morning and late evening. But don’t pack away the windbreaker just yet – strong gusts are sticking around, especially on the peaks and exposed coastlines.

General conditions

Cloud cover will be scarce, even disappearing from the northern slopes of most islands during the day. The south will enjoy clear skies. Rain chances are nearly zero, so the weekend is shaping up nicely for outdoor plans. Visibility around Tenerife North Airport is good, so no travel disruptions expected there.

Maximum temperatures may rise by a degree or two, while overnight lows remain stable and cool. The wind will continue to blow strongly in exposed areas: the peaks of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, central and southern Lanzarote, and in the channels between islands – especially the Anaga to Agaete corridor.

Out on the Atlantic, conditions remain rough, particularly in open waters and north of the islands, where waves will reach around 2 metres.

Island by island

Tenerife

Plenty of sunshine, with only a few low clouds around the Anaga massif. Strong winds on exposed slopes, mountain peaks, and the metropolitan area. Temperatures climbing.

Gran Canaria

The strongest gusts will hit the west, southeast, and summit areas, where they could exceed 80 km/h. Cloud cover is minimal, limited mostly to the north. Temperatures between 19°C and 24°C.

Lanzarote

More wind, especially in the centre and south, and of course out at sea. Few clouds, even the western side stays mostly clear. In Arrecife, temperatures range from 18°C to 25°C.

Fuerteventura

A day with few clouds overall, maybe a few scattered ones on the west coast. Moderate wind. Daytime highs in the capital reaching 26°C.

La Palma

Clouds retreating to the north and east, and even there they won’t amount to much. Gusts continue in exposed spots. Temperatures rising.

La Gomera

Low clouds in the north will clear during the day and return after nightfall. Wind gusts could top 70 km/h. Temperatures between 20°C and 26°C.

El Hierro

Scattered clouds in the north early on, but they won’t stick around. Strong gusts continue. In Valverde, highs around 20°C.

La Graciosa

Plenty of sunshine, though the wind will be noticeable, especially out on the ocean. Temperatures may be slightly warmer. Clouds are expected to return on Sunday.

Looking ahead

Sunday is likely to bring more cloud cover, particularly to the smaller islands. For now, enjoy the clearer skies and the calmer, though still breezy, Saturday.
