Saturday, 16 May. The first weekend of the spring season brings lasting moisture across the Canary Islands. Saturday sees a cloudy sky on the northern slopes, where weak and occasional showers are possible. The trade winds are moderate and will be more intense in exposed areas, while the Atlantic gets agitated on northern and western coasts.
General situation
Skies will be mostly cloudy on the northern slopes of the mountainous islands, where weak and occasional rain is possible. There will be clear spells in the south and during the midday hours. On the eastern islands (Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) and the minor islands, cloud cover will be variable.
Temperatures show no major changes. Daytime highs will rise slightly inland on La Palma, La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
The wind is a moderate trade wind. It will be stronger on exposed northwest and southeast slopes, especially during the early morning and first half of the day, where gusts could become strong.
The Atlantic will be agitated on northern coasts and the western shores of the most western islands (La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro) as well as Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where waves could exceed 2 metres. Winds between the islands will also cause rough conditions. On the more sheltered southern coasts, waves will not exceed 1 metre.

Variable cloud cover with a tendency to become cloudy in the north and south due to local afternoon clouds. A few drops cannot be ruled out. Elsewhere mostly clear. Moderate trade winds accelerating in the east-southeast. Temperatures in the capital between 17°C and 23°C.
Gran Canaria
Typical ‘panza de burro’ cloud layer in the north and northeast. Some weak and occasional rain cannot be ruled out. Elsewhere mostly clear or sunny. Moderate trade wind with probable strong gusts in the northwest and southeast. Temperatures in the capital between 18°C and 22°C.
Lanzarote
Variable cloud cover. A few drops cannot be ruled out in the north during the morning. Moderate trade winds. Temperatures in Arrecife between 17°C and 22°C.
Fuerteventura
Variable cloud cover, more compact inland and in the east. Moderate trade winds. Gusts are probable in the far south during the afternoon, especially in Morro Jable and Costa Calma. Maximum temperatures between 21°C and 24°C.
La Palma
Cloudy intervals will be more significant on the north and east slopes, where some light, scattered rain cannot be ruled out. Moderate trade winds. Temperatures in the capital between 16°C and 21°C.
La Gomera
Cloudy in the north and interior. Elsewhere mostly clear or sunny. Moderate northeast wind. Maximum temperatures on the coast between 19°C and 24°C.
El Hierro
Mostly clear skies except for cloudy intervals in the north and northeast. Moderate trade winds. Pleasant temperatures.
La Graciosa
Mostly clear skies in the morning. Cloudy intervals in the afternoon. Moderate trade winds. Temperatures in Caleta de Sebo between 16°C and 23°C.
