New Roman tavern opens in Arona serving Italian classics from €10

Pizza and pasta are two dishes that have won over the palates of many Tenerife residents. These Italian staples have carved out a place in Spanish cuisine, and plenty of people are on the lookout for restaurants serving them at good prices. In the municipality of Arona, a new establishment called Taberna Coliseo has recently opened its doors, aiming to offer customers authentic Italian flavours.

Food influencer gives it a try

Food content creator @elsiciliano_tenerife visited the venue to sample some of Rome’s classic dishes. “I found a restaurant serving authentic Roman food in South Tenerife,” he comments. Taberna Coliseo’s concept is based on home-style Italian cooking, with richly flavoured dishes that win over customers with every bite.

Roman classics on the menu

Among the standout options are classics such as Carbonara, Amatriciana, Cacio e Pepe and Gricia with artichokes. “Almost all dishes cost €10 and are named after famous landmarks in Rome,” he adds. There is also a mixed fried selection that impresses with its crunch and flavour. “The supplì I had seemed larger than usual. I definitely recommend trying it,” he says in the video.

The restaurant also serves ‘la lingua di pizza’ – a long, thin pizza that, according to the owner, is a very typical Roman dish. Customers can choose two different flavours. “Simple, classic dishes that retain the essence of Rome,” he assures.

Atmosphere and location

The restaurant has a few outdoor tables and a welcoming interior decorated in the style of ancient Rome. The staff recommend trying the tripe and oxtail alla vaccinara, “and a few other things that, honestly… I’ll have to go back to try”, the content creator says.

Sweet finish

No satisfying dining experience would be complete without dessert, and as a good Italian restaurant, Taberna Coliseo offers a tiramisù that impresses with its quality and flavour.

Opening hours and address

Taberna Coliseo is located at Carretera General TF-66, 183, in Arona. The restaurant has only recently opened its doors, so many Tenerife residents are still unaware of this new spot serving Italy’s most iconic dishes. It is open daily from 12:00 to 16:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00, offering both lunch and dinner service.

“A different kind of place if you like authentic Roman cuisine in Tenerife,” the influencer concludes.
