Tuesday: clouds return, calima clears
Clouds will dominate the weather this Tuesday, bringing a chance of light rain to the interior and eastern slopes of the mountainous islands. The lingering calima over the eastern islands will clear significantly. Temperatures see a slight dip, especially in the east.
General outlook
A moderate northwest wind is expected across the archipelago, shifting to a northerly direction during the afternoon. On the high peaks, winds will be from the west. Daytime temperatures will be pleasant but slightly cooler than recent days.
The Atlantic will be rough. An ocean swell from the open Atlantic will bring high waves, potentially over 1.5 metres, to northern and western coasts of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, especially later in the day. Rough seas are forecast for most other coasts, with only the eastern coasts of Tenerife and the southeast and east of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote seeing calmer ocean conditions with waves under 1 metre.

Tenerife
Variable cloud cover will give way to very cloudy skies in the north. The rest of the island will be cloudy to very cloudy, with probable light, occasional rain, especially in the east. Some clear spells may develop in the north around midday. A generally light northwest wind will turn northerly in the afternoon. Temperatures in Santa Cruz will range from 16°C to 23°C.
Gran Canaria
Expect variable cloud cover in the northwest. The rest of the island will be cloudy to very cloudy. Light, occasional rain is likely in the east and the mid-altitude areas of the south, with a chance of a shower in the north. A light to moderate northwest wind is forecast. The maximum temperature in Las Palmas will be around 22°C.
Lanzarote
Very cloudy skies early on will tend to become variably cloudy. Clear spells will develop on the eastern slopes in the afternoon. A moderate northwest wind is expected, with intense gusts not ruled out in areas like Teguise or Haría. Temperatures in Arrecife will range from 16°C to 23°C.
Fuerteventura
Cloudy skies will tend towards variable cloud cover by midday. Wide clear spells will open up in the interior and south during the afternoon. The Saharan dust haze will decrease notably. A moderate northwest wind is forecast. Temperatures in Puerto del Rosario will oscillate between 16°C and 22°C.
La Palma
Cloudy skies will tend to become very cloudy in the afternoon, particularly in the north and east. Light, occasional rain is probable here in the afternoon. A moderate northwest wind will shift to a northerly direction. The maximum temperature in Santa Cruz de La Palma will be around 22°C.
La Gomera
Cloudy skies with clear spells around midday. It will become cloudier again in the afternoon. A light to moderate northwest wind is expected. Temperatures in San Sebastián will range from 16°C to 23°C.
El Hierro
Morning cloudy intervals will tend to cloudy or very cloudy in the afternoon. Light, occasional rain is probable in the northeast in the afternoon. A light to moderate northwest wind will turn northerly by the afternoon. Cool temperatures are expected.
La Graciosa
Cloudy skies will tend to become mostly clear in the afternoon. A light to moderate northwest wind is forecast. Temperatures in Caleta de Sebo will range from 18°C to 23°C.
