New forest plan for Canary Islands approved

The Canary Islands government has approved a major new forest plan, replacing a document from 1999, to tackle the growing threat of wildfires driven by climate change. The 21-year strategy focuses on fire prevention, active forest management, and sustainable resource use across all islands. Nearly 39 million euros have been invested in new helicopters, drones, and specialist equipment to boost firefighting and prevention efforts.
