Fatal drowning at La Tejita
A 32-year-old man has died this Sunday after drowning at La Tejita beach, in the Tenerife municipality of Granadilla de Abona. The incident occurred in the early afternoon when the Coordinating Centre for Emergencies and Security (CECOES) 1-1-2 received several calls alerting them that a swimmer had been pulled from the sea unconscious.
Emergency response
The alert was received at 1.52pm and emergency services rushed to the scene to attend to the man. Upon arrival, paramedics found him in cardiorespiratory arrest and immediately began both basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). They also used a semi-automatic defibrillator (DESA) during the assistance, but the efforts were unsuccessful and they could ultimately only confirm the swimmer’s death.

The incident took place at La Tejita beach, one of the main stretches of sand in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, in the south of Tenerife.
