Unusual Scenes as Storm Therese Hits the Canaries
The passage of Storm Therese continues to leave rarely seen images across the Canary Islands. This Sunday, despite the storm abating, the mouth of the Agaete ravine completely overflowed, flooding the natural pools and bathing areas of the Gran Canaria municipality. Furthermore, the phenomenon has caused damage to the Maspalomas Dunes, forcing road closures.
Weather Warnings Remain in Place
The storm will keep the Islands under a yellow warning for heavy rain this Monday, which could also be accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail in the more mountainous islands. According to the forecast from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), it will also leave a small area of instability affecting the northeast of the Spanish mainland with cloudy skies and snow.
