Circus-Themed Spectacle Takes to the Streets
The International Carnival of Maspalomas, which this year is dedicated to the world of ‘El Circo’ (The Circus), will hold its Grand Parade today, Saturday, 28 March, starting at 5:00 pm. The event is set to feature 108 floats and is expected to draw a crowd of 350,000 people.
The Parade Route
The procession will set off from Avenida de Italia, by the Parque Tropical, and travel along the municipality’s main tourist thoroughfares. It will conclude at the intersection of Avenida Gran Canaria and Avenida Touroperador Tui. According to San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council, all floats must align with the circus theme, reinforcing the Carnival’s visual identity and raising the artistic standard of the parade.
A Festive Experience, Not Just a Parade
Commenting on the event, the Councillor for Tourism, Yilenia Vega, highlighted the value of the parade route within the overall event. “The Grand Parade is not just a procession; it is a festive experience packed with creativity, fun, and rhythm that projects the best image of our destination,” she said.
Public Transport Advice for Attendees
Regarding transport, a special public bus service will be provided from Avenida de Tirajana, near the Plaza del Hierro urbanisation. Tickets can be purchased at the roundabout by the Viuda de Franco. Given the high volume of expected attendees, the Town Council strongly recommends using public transport. Information concerning road closures and access can be found on the municipal website, Maspalomas.com.
