Tenerife’s Lava earns national recognition
The cuisine of the Canary Islands has once again found itself in the national spotlight. Lava’s nomination carries the direct endorsement of Spain’s fine dining establishment. The selection committee that drew up the final list comprises a distinguished panel of 56 Michelin-starred chefs, among them figures of the calibre of Ángel León, Martín Berasategui, the Torres brothers, Paco Morales and Elena Arzak. This backing from the leading lights of the kitchen confirms the quality, innovation and excellence of the project established in the Puerto de la Cruz area.
Public vote decides the winner
With the shortlist now official, the process enters its decisive phase, in which customers and users of the TheFork platform will have the final say. Public voting remains open until Sunday 11 October, allowing diners to cast their votes to determine which establishment takes home the coveted People’s Choice Award, a prize that last year went to the Madrid venue The Library. The competition, which assesses the gastronomic impact, service and concept of the leading openings registered throughout 2025, will culminate in an awards ceremony in the Spanish capital.

The contest will reveal the nine finalist restaurants and the overall winner at a ceremony to be held on 16 November at the Gran Teatro Caixabank in Madrid, an event at which Lava hopes to confirm its place at the forefront of the island’s dining scene.
