Tuesday brings another day of the familiar trade wind pattern to the Canary Islands, with low clouds in the north and clear skies elsewhere. The forecast remains stable through Wednesday, after which the winds are expected to ease slightly.
General conditions
The morning will start with low clouds across the northern slopes of the more mountainous islands, as well as the north and west of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The eastern islands should clear up almost completely as the day goes on, while the south and higher summits (above 2,000 metres) will enjoy plenty of sunshine.
Winds are moderate from the northeast, with strong gusts in exposed areas and across the south-central parts of the eastern islands. Temperatures will see no major changes. At sea, expect slightly choppy conditions in sheltered southern coasts, while northern coasts and channels between islands will see rough ocean with waves around 1 metre.
Tenerife
Clouds will appear on the northern side early in the day, below 2,000 metres. The summit and southern areas will stay clear. Moderate trade winds, with temperatures ranging between 19°C and 27°C.
Gran Canaria
Trade winds will be felt in the western municipalities and along the southeast coast, more noticeable in the afternoon. Clouds will be limited to the north and will gradually retreat. Temperatures will remain fairly stable.
Lanzarote
Clouds will cover much of the island in the morning, then slowly clear. Temperatures in Arrecife will range from 19°C to 25°C.
Fuerteventura
A blanket of clouds during the early hours will gradually lift. Temperatures in Puerto del Rosario will sit between 19°C and 25°C.
La Palma
Low clouds will cover the north and east of the island during the first part of the day, then tend to break up. Winds will be noticeable at the tips of the island. Temperatures similar to yesterday.
La Gomera
Low clouds will pile up in the north, more compact during the morning. Winds will lose strength inland. Temperatures will range from 19°C to 25°C.
El Hierro
Clouds will linger in the northeast during the early and late hours, but not much else. Winds will ease as the day goes on. Temperatures in Valverde will vary between 13°C and 17°C.
La Graciosa
Expect low clouds from early morning that will keep the sun hidden until the afternoon. Temperatures will be similar to the other eastern islands, and wind will not be a major factor.
