Thursday: calima clears for a sunny day
The persistent Saharan dust haze is finally clearing today, Thursday 2 April. It leaves behind a stable day with plenty of sunshine and pleasant temperatures across the archipelago. A moderate northeast wind will be felt, especially on exposed coasts.
General outlook
The calima is in retreat. In its place, some low cloud below 500-700 metres will affect northern and northeastern slopes of the higher islands, as well as parts of northern Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa. Elsewhere, expect mostly clear skies. Daytime temperatures will dip slightly in mid-altitude and summit areas. Coastal zones will see highs between 20 and 26°C.
A light to moderate northeast wind will blow at all levels, stronger on coasts exposed to the trade winds. At sea, expect a slightly choppy ocean on southern coasts and rougher conditions elsewhere. Waves on north-facing coasts will reach 1 to 2 metres.

Tenerife
Plenty of sunshine, though some low cloud will linger in the north and northeast. Some local afternoon clouds may develop over the central peaks. Temperatures will see a slight drop. Coastal highs of 20-26°C. The trade wind will pick up towards the end of the day.
Gran Canaria
Sunny weather, with some low cloud below 600 metres in parts of the north and around the capital, Las Palmas. Temperatures remain pleasant, with maximums above 23°C in many coastal areas. A moderate northeast wind.
Lanzarote
Mostly clear skies dominate, with some intervals of low cloud in the north and west. Temperatures will hardly change. Northeast wind.
Fuerteventura
Sunshine with some morning intervals of low cloud over the north of Jandía and the west coast. Temperatures unchanged. Moderate northeast wind.
La Palma
Clear skies, save for some low cloud below 700 metres in parts of the north and east. Maximum temperatures a little lower. Moderate east to northeast wind.
La Gomera
Mostly clear to clear skies, with some cloud in low-lying northern areas. The calima continues to fade. Temperatures steady with a moderate trade wind.
El Hierro
Calima in remission, leading to many hours of sun. Some low cloud may cling to the far northeast. Pleasant temperatures. The trade wind will intensify during the afternoon.
La Graciosa
Low clouds will mix with plenty of sunshine. Pleasant temperatures, with a high of around 23°C in Caleta de Sebo. Moderate northeast wind.
