A changeable end to the week
Friday brings a mix of cloud, some rain and strengthening winds across the Canary Islands. The morning will be cloudiest over the northern slopes of the mountainous islands, where a few light showers are likely, especially in the mid-altitude zones. By the afternoon, the wind will pick up noticeably, with gusts of up to 70 km/h possible on the highest peaks, exposed southeastern areas and the extreme tips of the islands.
Temperatures will hold steady, but on the highest summits another drop below freezing is likely overnight. The Atlantic will be rough along northern shores with waves around two metres, particularly in the channels between islands, while southern coasts remain calmer and slightly choppy.
