Busiest weekend of the summer so far
The eight Aena airports in the Canary Islands are set to handle a total of 1,298 flights this Sunday, 16 August, of which 447 will be international. The figures, released by the airport operator, come during the third weekend of August, which coincides with the 15 August bank holiday (the Assumption of the Virgin) and amid the activation of border checks on travellers arriving from Italy.

The airport at the centre of the action will be Gran Canaria, which is forecast to see 369 flights today, followed by Tenerife North with 248 and Lanzarote with 220.
