Hijos de la Ruina to make Canary Islands debut in Tenerife
Hijos de la Ruina is a legendary Madrid group formed in 2012 by the artists Natos, Waor and Recycled J. After years of building a career both individually and together, and with several musical projects under their belts, they released Hijos de la Ruina Vol. 4 at the start of this year, 2026 — their best and most meticulously crafted album to date. Now, as part of the reunion tour for their new album, Hijos de la Ruina will perform in the Canary Islands for the first time, in Tenerife, on 31 October, in a show that promises to be memorable.
A career like no other
After a period of inactivity, this has once again been your year — the year of Hijos de la Ruina. The legacy and the career you have left behind, and are still building, both individually and collectively, is immense. Where would you say you find yourselves today, both personally and as a group? Have things changed much around you since that year in 2012 when the group was formed?
Well, we’ve become grown men, with everything that entails — more responsibilities and wiser heads on our shoulders. On a personal level, I (Waor) have two kids, I lead a calmer life than I did back then and I’m happier in general. As a group, we’re going through our best moment. We’re on the most successful tour we’ve ever done, putting on the best show we’ve ever put on, and we’ve released the album, Hijos de la Ruina Vol. 4, which in our view is the best we’ve ever brought out, so we’re very happy.
The making of Vol. 4
In early 2026 you released Hijos de la Ruina Vol. 4, the longest work in the group’s history and one of the most complete, profound and true to your essence. A few months on from its release, what was the experience of creating this album like compared with the three previous volumes? How have you found the audience’s response?
The process of making Hijos de la Ruina Vol. 4 was pretty intense. We made more songs than ever. The album has 21 tracks, but we ended up producing 30 or 40 rough ideas that could or could not have become a reality. So it was a very intense process, because we spent a year and a bit working non-stop, never taking our eye off it. When the three of us get together, songs come out that have that special magic we only generate when we unite, because of how well we complement each other. The audience’s response was very good. It was the album that had the most streams on platforms of our entire career on release day, by a long way as well. There are plenty of tracks that have already become out-and-out anthems — you only have to look at people’s faces at the concerts and how they sing along. We’re absolutely delighted, to be honest.
The most ambitious tour yet
You started the tour in February and since then you’ve played a huge number of venues across the country. How are you experiencing this tour as a group? What new things are you dealing with on this tour and how have you readjusted to the group’s live dynamic after all these years?
We’re enjoying the tour like little kids, because it’s what we love doing most — playing concerts. On top of that, we also love spending time together. As for the type of show, this tour’s is the most ambitious we’ve ever put on, apart from the one at the Metropolitano, which was bigger, more costly and more spectacular, but that was a one-off concert. So on this tour we include a band on some songs and, at times, a viola and a violin come with us. We’re also trying, as far as possible and taking the schedules into account, to bring guest artists to all or nearly all the cities. It’s a particularly long type of concert. We haven’t done a single one under two and a half hours, not even at festivals. We wanted to be quite ambitious and we think that’s being reflected in the feedback the audience gives us.
First ever Canary Islands show in Tenerife
As part of this tour, on 31 October you’ll be performing in the Islands for the first time, specifically in Tenerife. How do you feel about being able to get so close to your audience in the Canary Islands for the first time? How are you approaching such a special date?
We love the Canary Islands, and the Tenerife concert is firmly on our minds. We also have very good friends there and the three of us travel over fairly often, even when we don’t have shows, because we really like it and we feel very much at home. This is the first time we can put on a concert with the full stage production at 100%, since it isn’t always easy to do because we have to transport a lot of materials from the mainland, which is very expensive, and we haven’t always been able to offer the full show, so to speak. Now we’ve managed to sort it out and we can’t wait to show it off there to all our people in the Canary Islands.
Living in the present
With the group back and active, a new album released and the tour under way, what are your plans for the future, both individually and collectively? What goals would you say you still have left to achieve?
To be honest, we don’t have any big goals in mind for the future — we’ll see what life throws at us and what we feel like doing. Right now we’re immersed in this tour and we want to live in the present without looking much beyond the next few months, as we still have quite a lot of tour dates ahead of us and a few more that will come up and that we’ll be announcing. So for the moment we’re very happy enjoying this stage which, as we said before, is what we love doing most. We’ll carry on making music, we’ll carry on getting together in the studio and that’s how it will stay. As for everything else, we’ll give out information in due course — right now we’re going to focus on what concerns us, which is this tour and the upcoming concerts.
