A calm, anticyclonic day on the Islands
The Canary Islands are set for another day of classic summer weather this Tuesday, 25 August. A high-pressure system is dominating, bringing a mix of sunshine and clouds, with no significant changes expected through the week. The only possibility of a little weak rainfall arrives late on Thursday afternoon and into Friday.
Expect variable cloud cover across the archipelago, with periods of mostly clear skies alternating with cloudier spells. Low clouds and local daytime clouds will form, but they won’t bring any rain. Daytime temperatures remain stable, peaking at around 30ºC on most islands and slightly cooler at 27–28ºC on La Graciosa.
Winds will blow from the north and northeast, light to moderate in strength. Higher up, above 1,300–1,400 metres, the wind shifts to come from the west. This will be moderate on La Palma’s peaks, but could be strong at times on Tenerife’s summits, particularly around Mount Teide. Out on the Atlantic, conditions are calm with slightly choppy ocean surfaces. The eastern islands may see a bit more movement, with ocean swell from the open Atlantic of under 1.5 metres.
