Sunday brings calmer conditions as trade winds ease
After a blustery Saturday, Sunday sees the trade winds drop in intensity across the Canary Islands. The Atlantic remains relatively calm, with combined north-easterly swells of 1.5 to 2 metres on northern coasts, and rougher ocean conditions around the more sheltered southern shores.
Cloud cover will be patchy: northern slopes of the mountainous islands will see variable cloud cover, thickest at dawn and dusk. A light drizzle is possible in the midlands of these northern areas during the early hours, but the rest of the archipelago will enjoy mostly clear skies.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler inland and across the southern half of the central islands. Coastal maxima range between 23°C and 30°C, with some spots in western and south-eastern Gran Canaria, the Güímar Valley in Tenerife, and south-eastern Fuerteventura potentially exceeding 30°C.
