Wednesday delivers a predominantly grey day across the Canary Islands as cloud cover lingers from morning through to the afternoon. There’s a low chance of light drizzle in the midlands of several islands, while winds stay light and the Atlantic remains mostly calm.
General outlook
Thick low cloud will blanket most islands from early morning, both on northern and southern slopes, with some high cloud drifting in during the day. The chance of rain is lower than on Tuesday, but a few drops could still reach northern midlands in the morning and southern midlands in the afternoon – especially on La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria – due to local cloud development.
Winds will be almost non-existent, with only a light ocean breeze along the coasts. Temperatures may drop by a degree or two but remain pleasant for the season. At sea, the northern coasts will see rough ocean conditions with waves around 1.5 metres, while southern shores stay calmer at half a metre.
Island-by-island forecast
Tenerife
Low cloud will cover all slopes – northern areas may see light drizzle in the morning, with a similar chance in the south later. High cloud will drift over the summit areas. Winds are light, and temperatures remain similar to recent days.
Gran Canaria
Little wind and cloud dominating the northern half, with a possible light shower. In the south and southwest, some clear spells will open up by the afternoon. No significant change in temperatures.
Lanzarote
Coastal breezes and compact cloud cover, with a chance of a few drops on the western side during the first half of the day. Temperatures range from 16°C to 22°C in Arrecife.
Fuerteventura
A grey day from start to finish, with possible light drizzle on the west coast. Temperatures between 17°C and 21°C in Puerto del Rosario.
La Palma
Low cloud across the whole island, with some high cloud as well. Rain less likely except in the north. Temperatures in Santa Cruz de La Palma: 14°C to 21°C.
La Gomera
A grey day throughout, with a mix of high and low cloud. The low cloud could produce light drizzle in the north and interior. No wind; temperatures similar to Tuesday.
El Hierro
Clouds from morning to afternoon, with a possible light drop in the north – nothing significant. Temperatures in Valverde: 12°C to 15°C.
La Graciosa
Clouds will settle over the island too, creating a humid atmosphere. Little wind, good sea conditions, and temperatures holding steady.
