Saturday: rising heat and calima across the Islands
A warm and dry weekend is on the cards. This Saturday, expect skies with mid to high-level cloud. Local afternoon clouds may develop over the more mountainous islands, but the chance of isolated, occasional rain is low. Saharan dust will be more significant in mid-altitude areas and on the peaks, reducing visibility to around 3,000 metres.
General outlook
Temperatures will rise notably, especially maximums on northern and western coasts. Expect highs between 23°C and 32°C. Locally, they could exceed 34°C in the interior and west of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and the western mid-altitude areas of Gran Canaria.
The wind will be a light to moderate easterly, with strong intervals on the western slopes of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa, especially during the morning. On the highest peaks, it will be a southerly wind with the possibility of very strong gusts exceeding 70 km/h.
At sea, there will be a combined north-northwest swell on coasts open to the north and the western shores of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, where waves will struggle to exceed 2 metres. Elsewhere, rough ocean conditions will predominate.

Gran Canaria
Skies with mid to high-level cloud. Calima affecting mid-altitude and summit areas most. Easterly wind in low areas, moderate southerly on peaks where very strong gusts are possible. Temperatures from 18°C to 28°C in Las Palmas.
Lanzarote
Skies with mid to high-level cloud. Calima increasing. Easterly wind with strong intervals in the west. Maximum temperature around 28°C in Arrecife.
Fuerteventura
Intervals of mid and high-level clouds. Calima will be more significant in the south. Easterly wind with strong intervals in the west. Warm temperatures.
La Palma
Mid to high-level cloud. Probable calima, becoming more significant in the afternoon. Easterly wind, light to moderate, with probable strong southerly gusts on the peaks. Maximum temperatures rising, potentially reaching 30°C in Los Llanos de Aridane.
La Gomera
Mid to high-level cloud. Calima increasing, more notable in the afternoon. Light easterly wind and warm maximum temperatures.
El Hierro
Skies with high-level cloud. Calima increasing. Easterly wind, light to moderate. Temperatures from 13°C to 22°C in Valverde.
La Graciosa
Intervals of mid and high-level clouds with probable calima. Easterly wind, light to moderate. Temperatures from 17°C to 24°C in Caleta de Sebo.
