Sunday: calmer weather and a rising ocean swell
A more stable day is expected across the Canary Islands this Easter Sunday. While the eastern islands will see more cloud, conditions are generally improving. A light north wind will dominate, but a significant ocean swell is set to build from the northwest by the evening.
General Outlook
Sunday brings greater stability. Scattered clouds, mainly medium and high-level, will affect the eastern islands. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly clear, with local afternoon clouds developing which could bring a few isolated, scattered drops of rain. Northern slopes may cloud over later.
Daytime temperatures will rise slightly, most noticeably on south and west-facing coasts of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Mornings will be cool in mid-altitude and summit areas of the western islands. A light north wind will blow at coastal levels, with a southerly component on the peaks. It will be more intense on the east and northwest coasts of the more mountainous islands, with probable strong gusts in the south of Fuerteventura and southeast of Lanzarote.
In the Atlantic, an ocean swell from the northwest will build, with waves potentially reaching 2 metres by late in the day. Rough ocean conditions will prevail elsewhere, except for the east coast of Tenerife, south of Gran Canaria, and southeast of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where waves will not exceed half a metre.
