Sunday: Strong trade winds and a rough Atlantic
Expect a stable but windy day across the Canary Islands this Sunday, 29 March. The northeast trade wind will be the main feature, bringing strong gusts and creating rough ocean conditions, particularly on northern and western coasts.
General Outlook
The weather is stable. Coastal areas will see pleasant daytime temperatures between 18ºC and 24ºC. A moderate northeast wind will blow, strengthening to strong on the southeast and northwest slopes of the more mountainous islands. Locally very strong gusts, exceeding 70 km/h, are likely on these exposed slopes during the afternoon and evening.
Maritime conditions will worsen. A combined north-northeasterly swell will affect coasts open to the north and the western coasts of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, with waves that could reach and surpass 3 metres. The more sheltered southern coasts will see rough ocean conditions.
