Thursday: clouds and a chance of light rain
Thursday 23 April brings a cloudy picture to the Canary Islands, with a continued chance of light rain. The north of the islands will see the most cloud, which could bring occasional drizzle, especially in the early hours and morning. Temperatures hold steady, and the Atlantic is calm.
General Outlook
Low cloud will dominate northern slopes. On La Gomera, Tenerife, and Gran Canaria, this could lead to occasional light rain from the early morning into the first half of the day. Local afternoon clouds will develop on southern and eastern slopes, with a slim chance of a spot of rain in mid-altitude areas by the afternoon.
Temperatures see no major changes, with a slight dip in daytime highs possible on the capital islands. Winds are light and variable, with a northwesterly flow in the western province and a northerly component in the east.
Ocean conditions improve. An ocean swell from the northwest will bring waves of around 2 metres to northern coasts and just over 1 metre in the south.
Island-by-island forecast
Tenerife
A good chance of light rain persists for much of the day in the north. Local clouds developing in the south and east in the afternoon also bring a risk of a light shower. Temperatures remain similar to previous days.
Gran Canaria
Light rain could return to the north and interior of the island. Expect a grey day with cloud increasing in the afternoon. Temperatures in Las Palmas will range from 16°C to 21°C.
Lanzarote
Scattered clouds in the north and east will lose ground through the day. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly clear. It will be almost windless. Temperatures between 15°C and 22°C.
Fuerteventura
Clouds will be more compact on the eastern slopes, while the rest of the island clears. No significant wind. Temperatures will range from 15°C to 22°C.
La Palma
Low cloud will cover all slopes, more compact in the north and east in the morning, clearing in the west. No wind and stable temperatures.
La Gomera
Low cloud could bring a spot of rain to the north and interior in the early morning and first hours of the day. Local clouds will develop later. Temperatures will not vary.
El Hierro
Clouds in the north in the early hours may bring a light shower, but skies will clear in many areas later. Temperatures in Valverde will range from 12°C to 16°C.
La Graciosa
Some insignificant clouds at first will give way to clear skies. Another day with little wind and similar temperatures.
