Monday: showers and possible storms across the Islands
Unsettled weather continues across the Canary Islands this Monday, 23 March. Cloudy skies will dominate with occasional breaks. Scattered showers are likely, some of which could be locally heavy, particularly on southern and western slopes. There is a chance these could be accompanied by thunderstorms.
General Outlook
Daytime temperatures will see a slight rise on the peaks of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. A slight drop is expected in parts of northeast Tenerife and the interior of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Some weak frost is possible in high areas of Tenerife and La Palma.
The wind will blow from the southwest, with a southerly component predominating in the eastern islands. Some strong gusts are possible during the first half of the day, easing to light by the afternoon. On the remaining islands, light and variable winds are expected, with a southerly tendency.
At sea, waves will generally not exceed 2 metres, except along the east and southeast coasts where they will stay below 1.5 metres.

Tenerife
Frequent, locally heavy showers are expected, some possibly intense. An afternoon downpour cannot be ruled out in the northeast. Light and variable wind, turning southerly. Temperatures in Santa Cruz will range from 15°C to 22°C.
Gran Canaria
Cloudy skies with probable scattered showers, which could be locally intense. A light shower is possible around the capital. Generally light southerly wind. Temperatures in Las Palmas will range from 16°C to 22°C.
Lanzarote
Very cloudy skies with locally heavy showers likely around midday. Predominantly southerly wind. A maximum temperature of 20°C is forecast for Arrecife.
Fuerteventura
Cloudy skies with heavy showers, especially in the morning and early afternoon. Moderate southerly wind, easing later. The maximum temperature in Puerto del Rosario will be around 21°C.
La Palma
A cloudy day with probable heavy showers accompanied by thunder. Light and variable wind. Temperatures in Santa Cruz de La Palma will range from 14°C to 20°C.
La Gomera
Scattered showers, some locally heavy. Thunderstorms are probable. Light and variable wind. Maximum coastal temperatures between 17°C and 22°C.
El Hierro
Showers are forecast, some locally moderate to heavy, particularly around midday. Light and variable wind and cool temperatures.
La Graciosa
Probable showers during the morning. Southerly wind, turning easterly overnight. Temperatures in Caleta de Sebo will range from 16°C to 20°C.
