The heat is back. Temperatures climb across the Canary Islands this Wednesday, with local highs of 36–38ºC in parts of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Light calima drifts over the archipelago, most noticeable at altitude.
General conditions

Tenerife
Scattered clouds along the north, especially early and late in the day. Sunshine and calima elsewhere, with local afternoon clouds forming over the central summits. Summer-like temperatures and a northerly coastal wind, turning east to southeast in the midlands.
Gran Canaria
Mostly clear skies with calima in the air, more noticeable in the midlands and summits where the heat bites hardest. Local highs of 36–38ºC. Northeast wind on the coast, easterly in the midlands and south-southeast over the summit.
Lanzarote
Some morning mist along the north and west, then sunshine, calima and heat. Maximums of 34–37ºC inland and in the south. Light to moderate northeast wind.
Fuerteventura
Sun and calima, with a hot day ahead. Highs of 34–38ºC in inland and western areas, where the wind swings east to southeast and strengthens late in the day.
La Palma
Few clouds, with some low cloud in parts of the north and east and middle cloud arriving in the evening and overnight elsewhere. A touch of calima at altitude, more heat, and a southwest wind at El Roque.
La Gomera
Apart from a few low clouds in the north below 600 metres, clear skies with light calima. Warmer temperatures and a light northerly wind on the coast.
El Hierro
Scattered low cloud over the Valle del Golfo. Sunshine elsewhere, with light calima and intervals of middle cloud late in the day. Temperatures rising.
La Graciosa
Some low cloud at dawn, then sunshine, calima and warmth. A high of 28–30ºC in Caleta de Sebo, with a light north-northeast wind.
