Wednesday is shaping up to be a classic summer’s day on the Islands: plenty of sunshine, warm air and a lively trade wind. The ocean will be rough in places, with waves over a metre high along most coasts.
General outlook
Temperatures will climb in parts of the midlands, with daytime highs reaching or exceeding 30ºC on all islands except La Graciosa. The hottest spot looks set to be the south of Gran Canaria, where the mercury could touch 34ºC.
A moderate northeast trade wind will pick up during the afternoon and evening, bringing locally strong gusts. Cloud cover will be more abundant in the morning and again towards the end of the day.
At sea, expect a rough Atlantic with an ocean swell from the north. Swimmers and sailors should be cautious: waves will exceed one metre in most bays and bathing areas.
