Thursday brings a spring-like blanket of cloud across the Canary Islands. Low clouds will dominate both the northern and southern coasts for much of the day, although the chance of any actual rain stays very low. Temperatures edge up slightly, winds remain light, and the Atlantic is mostly calm.
Morning cloud cover will be thick in many areas, with only a few sunny breaks expected on El Hierro, La Palma, and the western slopes of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. For most of the rest of the archipelago, grey skies will be the theme. Winds are light and variable, shifting direction as coastal breezes take over by the afternoon.
Ocean conditions
The Atlantic remains generally calm. Southern coasts will see a slightly choppy ocean, while northern shores face a rougher sea with waves barely exceeding 1.5 metres. Nothing to worry about for ferry passengers or coastal walks.
Island by island
Tenerife
Low clouds will hang around at dawn, especially in the north, with a slight chance of a stray droplet early on. Later in the evening, clouds may form again on the eastern side. Temperatures range from 17°C to 24°C.
Gran Canaria
Cloud cover will increase as the day goes on, spreading across most of the island except the summit areas. Temperatures rise slightly, and winds will be nearly absent. A calm, grey day for the most part.
Lanzarote
Morning skies are mostly clear, but clouds will build through the day on the eastern side, leaving the rest of the island relatively open. In Arrecife, temperatures sit between 16°C and 22°C.
Fuerteventura
Few clouds at dawn, with some development later on the eastern half of the island – but no rain expected. Puerto del Rosario sees a comfortable range of 16°C to 22°C.
La Palma
Clouds will spread across the island without fully covering the sky. High clouds will move in later in the day. Winds stay calm, and temperatures range from 15°C to 22°C.
La Gomera
Clouds will be most noticeable inland, but they won’t be as thick as in recent days. No rain is expected. Temperatures vary between 17°C and 23°C.
El Hierro
The island will see fewer clouds than most. What clouds form will be scattered and dry. Slightly warmer than recent days, with Valverde reaching between 11°C and 17°C.
La Graciosa
A mostly clear day overall. Any clouds that drift in will be passing through and not thick enough to hang around. No wind, calm ocean, and rising temperatures.
