Saturday will bring a mix of sun and clouds across the Canary Islands, with temperatures holding steady before a noticeable cool-down arrives on Sunday. Expect strong trade winds in exposed areas, especially during the afternoon.
General conditions
Look for scattered low clouds below 500–600 metres on the northern coasts of the larger islands, with similar patches on the north and west of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa. Elsewhere, it will be mostly sunny, although a light calima will hang in the sky over the eastern islands.
Daytime temperatures will barely change, possibly inching up slightly in the peaks. Expect maximums between 32–36ºC, with the hottest spots in southeast Gran Canaria and municipalities like El Rosario and Candelaria in Tenerife.
Winds will blow from the northeast, moderate to strong, with very strong intervals in the usual acceleration zones of the trade winds. From midday, gusts could reach 60–80 km/h in Morro Jable and inland areas and the south of Lanzarote.
At sea, the Atlantic will be slightly choppy along southern coasts, but rough in areas exposed to the trade winds and open ocean, with waves of 1–1.5 metres.
