Warm, dry, and hazy across the archipelago
A warm and dry weekend is settling over the Canary Islands. Saturday brings some low cloud on the northern coasts of the mountainous islands, especially early and late in the day. Elsewhere, expect thin high cloud drifting northward across the archipelago, along with a layer of calima—Saharan dust haze—most notably over the eastern islands, and lightly dusting mid-altitudes and higher ground of the western isles.
Temperatures are set to rise moderately, particularly in the interior south of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, where daytime highs could exceed 30°C. Expect a general range of 21°C to 32°C.
Wind will be moderate from the north at lower elevations, with stronger gusts over the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands. In midlands and summits, the wind shifts east. The Atlantic will be a mixed affair: northwest swells on northern and western coasts of the western islands and on Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, with waves topping 1.5 metres. Southern, sheltered coasts will see a rough ocean.

Low cloud in the north will thicken overnight. Elsewhere, high cloud with traces of calima. Moderate northerly wind with possible strong gusts in the southeast and around Anaga. A southerly component on the summit. Temperatures range from 18°C to 26°C in the capital.
Gran Canaria
Low cloud in the north and around the capital. Elsewhere, high cloud and calima. Moderate northerly winds on the coast with strong gusts possible in the southeast and northwest. Light easterly on the summits. Temperatures between 18°C and 24°C in the capital.
Lanzarote
Low cloud in the north and west. Elsewhere, high cloud with calima haze. Moderate north wind. Temperatures in Arrecife range from 18°C to 27°C.
Fuerteventura
Low cloud in the north and west. High cloud and calima elsewhere. North winds. Maximums between 23°C and a hot 32°C.
La Palma
Low cloud on the northern slopes, with high cloud elsewhere. Light calima at higher elevations. Moderate trade winds on the coast, light easterly on the summits. The capital should see a high of 24°C.
La Gomera
Cloudy intervals in the north. High cloud elsewhere. Moderate northerly trades, accelerating on the eastern side. Light calima at altitude. Temperatures in the capital range from 18°C to 24°C.
El Hierro
Low cloud in the north and northeast, with high cloud above. Light calima at altitude. Moderate trade winds on the coast. Slightly warmer temperatures than previous days.
La Graciosa
Low cloud in the morning, then high cloud with calima. North winds. Temperatures in Caleta de Sebo range from 18°C to 24°C.
