Classic spring Saturday with trade winds in charge
It’s a classic spring Saturday on the Islands. The trade winds are back in control, bringing mostly clear skies and pleasant temperatures across the archipelago. There will be some cloud cover below 1,000 metres on the northern slopes of the mountainous islands, and a few spots might see a light, occasional drizzle in mid-elevation areas — nothing to write home about.
Elsewhere, expect mostly clear or sunny conditions. On the eastern islands, cloud cover in the north and along western coasts will gradually break up through the day. Temperatures are holding steady: daytime highs will dip slightly in parts of the western islands, except around Tenerife’s peaks and parts of the eastern islands, where they’ll edge up a touch. Overnight lows remain unchanged.
The trade winds will be moderate, with strong intervals on exposed slopes, particularly on north-west and south-east coasts where locally very strong gusts are possible.
Ocean conditions
The Atlantic will be mixed, with a north-north-westerly swell affecting open northern coasts and western shores of the westernmost islands, as well as Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Waves could top 1.5 metres. On more sheltered southern coasts, expect rough ocean conditions.
