Friday: a cooler, cloudier day with morning showers

The Canary Islands wake up to a more autumnal feel this Friday, with cloud, drizzle and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Light rain or damp mist is likely across north and north-east slopes during the first half of the day, especially in the mid-altitude areas before dawn. Skies will brighten from the afternoon, and the rest of the archipelago will stay mostly clear.

Daytime highs will sit between 23°C and 29°C along the coasts, retreating slightly from recent days, though the Valle de Güímar in Tenerife could still reach a warm 30–32°C. Moderate north-easterly winds will strengthen through the afternoon, with gusts of 60–80 km/h in exposed spots. Out on the Atlantic, expect slightly choppy conditions on sheltered southern coasts, turning rough elsewhere with waves of 1–2 metres.

Tenerife

Cloudy skies over the north with light rain, easing into scattered cloud as the day goes on. Elsewhere, sunshine and cloud will alternate. Temperatures dip, though the Valle de Güímar still holds onto 30–32°C. Strong northerly winds will pick up south of Anaga during the afternoon.

Gran Canaria

Plenty of cloud over the north and the capital, with light rain in the mid-altitudes through the first half of the day. The rest of the island stays sunny. Temperatures fall to highs of 24–30°C, with moderate to strong north-easterly winds.

Lanzarote

Cloudy at first, gradually turning mostly clear. Temperatures are a touch milder than recent days. Moderate northerly winds, strengthening through the afternoon across the southern half of the island.

Fuerteventura

Scattered clouds dominate, thickest around dawn. Temperatures ease slightly, and strong north-easterly winds blow through Jandía.

La Palma

Heavy cloud over the north and the eastern district with some light rain in the morning, while the rest of the island sees broken cloud. Mild temperatures and a moderate trade wind.

La Gomera

Mostly clear skies over the south and the capital, but plenty of low cloud across the north and the summit, with the odd morning drizzle. Gusty northerly winds in the higher ground of the south.

El Hierro

Scattered cloud over the north and the capital, thicker in the morning with a little light rain. Temperatures fall, with a moderate north-easterly wind.

La Graciosa

Scattered cloud throughout the day, most abundant at dawn. A top temperature of 25°C, with a moderate north-easterly wind.
