Sunday: clearer skies and warmer temperatures

Compiled with the help of artificial intelligence, based on weather data. Source below the article.

Sunday brings a change of scenery. Fewer clouds, more sunshine, and temperatures climbing by a degree or two inland. It’s a good day to get outside, though a light jacket might be handy for the north.

General outlook

The trade winds will blow moderately, with stronger gusts in exposed areas like the southeast and northwest of the mountainous islands. Gran Canaria could see an occasionally very strong gust, as could the high areas around El Pinar on El Hierro. On Tenerife’s central peaks, the wind will be moderate from the southwest, turning to the west by the afternoon.

The Atlantic will be settled, with a north-northeast swell. Waves could reach or exceed 1.5 metres on north-facing coasts and the western shores of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The calmest conditions will be on the southwest coasts of the mountainous islands and the southeastern shores of the eastern ones.

A light layer of calima (Saharan dust) will hang in the sky over the easternmost islands, but it should stay aloft.

Tenerife

Variable cloud cover in the north, thickest in the northeast where a stray morning drop is possible. Clear spells will open up by midday. Elsewhere, mostly clear, with some local afternoon clouds in the west. Moderate trade winds. Temperatures in the capital will range from 24ºC to 29ºC.

Gran Canaria

Cloudy intervals in the north, but with broad clear spells after midday. Elsewhere, mostly clear. A moderate northeast wind, with occasionally very strong gusts possible in the southeast and northwest. Inland areas of the southern half could top 30ºC, while the capital will reach around 28ºC.

Lanzarote

Mostly clear skies, with some cloud intervals at the start and end of the day in the north and west. Moderate trade winds, stronger inland. Temperatures in Arrecife will range from 22ºC to 29ºC.

La Palma

Cloudy in the north and east, with a chance of light drizzle in the northeast. Elsewhere, variable cloud, except for the west which will be mostly clear. Moderate trade winds. Temperatures in the capital will range from 22ºC to 26ºC.

La Gomera
