Tuesday: sun, warmth, and calima returns

A warm Tuesday on the Islands

Temperatures are climbing across the Canary Islands this Tuesday, especially in midlands and high-altitude zones. Daytime highs will settle between 28 and 32°C in most areas, with mostly clear skies dominating the archipelago. The real talking point? Saharan dust (calima) may make a comeback — likely at altitude, so don’t be surprised if the horizon looks a little hazy.

Low clouds will stick to the north-facing coasts of the western islands, staying below 1,200 metres. Elsewhere, skies are mostly clear or only lightly scattered with clouds. The wind blows from the northeast, light to moderate. On the highest peaks, especially around Teide National Park, expect moderate easterly winds before they shift to a light westerly.

Good news for beachgoers: the Atlantic is finally calming down. After days of rougher seas, waves on most beaches and swimming areas will stay under one metre.

Island by island

Tenerife

Cloudy skies in the north, with low clouds staying below 1,200 metres. The rest of the island enjoys sunshine, and temperatures are rising in high-altitude areas. A pleasant day across the board.

Gran Canaria

Mostly clear or lightly scattered clouds, except on the northern coast below 900 metres, where the famous “panza de burro” (local cloud bank) will come and go in patches.

Lanzarote

Plenty of sunshine. Some low clouds may appear on the north and west coasts early in the morning and late in the day, but nothing to spoil the day.

Fuerteventura

Sunny skies dominate. A few low clouds might drift over the western coast at dawn and dusk, but otherwise it’s a clear, warm day.

La Palma

Variable low cloud cover, with more clouds in the north and along the eastern side of the island. The rest of the island gets a fair share of sun.

La Gomera

Summer temperatures and plenty of sun. A sea of clouds will linger over the north in the morning and again after mid-afternoon, but most of the island stays bright.

El Hierro

Clouds in the north below 1,200 metres, varying in density through the day. Sunshine everywhere else, with a moderate trade wind breeze.

La Graciosa

A light to moderate trade wind, plenty of sun, and just a few low clouds drifting by. Maximum temperature: 27–28°C.
