Saturday: clouds and light rain for the north

Clouds and light showers for the north on Saturday

Saturday is a cloudier day across the Canary Islands, with the remnants of a very weak weather front sweeping in from the Atlantic. While this won’t bring dramatic weather, it will deliver low cloud and some light rain, particularly across the northern slopes of the tallest islands. The rest of the archipelago will see mostly cloudy skies too, especially at mid-altitudes.

Temperatures are continuing to drop. Expect coastal highs to land somewhere between 22–29°C. The wind will be light to moderate from the north, with stronger gusts at the eastern and western tips of the bigger islands. Up on the peaks, the breeze will blow from the northwest, and it will be noticeably stronger around Mount Teide.

As for the Atlantic, calm conditions are expected off the southern coasts. Elsewhere, the ocean will be slightly choppy, with waves between 1 and 1.5 metres high.

Tenerife

Light rain is likely across northern parts, especially during the midday and early afternoon. Over the south, expect some local afternoon clouds, though a few drops can’t be ruled out in the mid-altitudes. Temperatures are dropping, with a light to moderate northerly wind on the coasts and a northwesterly breeze on Mount Teide.

Gran Canaria

Cloudy skies dominate both the north and the south, with some light rain possible in the mid-altitudes. The clearest skies will be over parts of the summit and the western coast. Pleasant temperatures with highs of 23–29°C. Moderate northerly wind.

Lanzarote

Scattered clouds, with thicker cover in the north around dawn and again in the early afternoon. Temperatures holding steady. Moderate northerly to north-easterly wind.

Fuerteventura

Variable cloud cover throughout the day. Temperatures barely change, with highs of 24–29°C. Light to moderate wind from the north and north-east.

La Palma

Plenty of cloud with light rain likely, especially in the northern mid-altitudes. The sunniest conditions will be above 2,100 metres on the summit. Pleasant daytime temperatures.

La Gomera

Cloudy skies in the north and over the summit, with some light rain possible. Elsewhere, a mix of clouds and clear spells. Coastal highs between 23–28°C.

El Hierro

Thicker cloud cover in the north, where a light shower could appear. Temperatures dropping slightly. Northerly wind along the coasts.

La Graciosa

Alternating cloud and clear spells, with thicker cover early in the day. Temperatures barely change – expect a maximum of 25–26°C. Light northerly wind.
